DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and the Berkshire Athenaeum will continue the Downtown Pittsfield StoryWalk® of Ty Allan Jackson’s book “When I Close My Eyes” through Labor Day\, Monday\, September 6\, 2021. \n“When I Close My Eyes” is illustrated by Jonathan Shears\, and the StoryWalk® features a new Spanish translation by Rosalia Padilla. \n16 local businesses and organizations in Downtown Pittsfield are participating in the StoryWalk®\, and you can access a map and virtual tour at https://tinyurl.com/PittsfieldStoryWalk. Download the PocketSights app to follow the virtual walking tour on your GPS-enabled mobile device. (A list of locations is also included below.) \nDowntown Pittsfield\, Inc. and the Berkshire Athenaeum are excited to partner with CozQuest for a family-friendly Treasure Hunt along the StoryWalk® route from Saturday\, August 28 through Labor Day\, Monday\, September 6\, 2021. \nTo find some treasure with CozQuest while out on your StoryWalk®\, it’s simple: scan the CozQuest QR code at Dottie’s Coffee Lounge\, solve a puzzle\, and the location for your first treasure will open on a map. Follow the map\, find and scan the hidden QR code\, and enjoy your prize. The QR codes unlock treasure at local businesses. Find all of the QR codes anytime between 8/28 and 9/6 and you’ll be entered to win one of five limited edition “When I Close My Eyes” posters signed by the author\, and one Grand Prize Winner will also receive a tote bag full of library swag. DESCRIPTION:Join the Berkshire County Historical Society at Arrowhead for the fifth annual Moby-Dick Read-A-Thon! \n“Call me Ishmael” and sign up to read part of Melville’s masterpiece on the site where it was written. Come on your own or bring a group to read with us until we finish the book. 10am-5pm on Thursday 7/29\, Friday 7/30\, Saturday 7/31\, and Monday 8/2\, and from 1pm-5pm on Sunday 8/1. \nWe are thrilled to announce that Shakespearean actor and Moby-Dick audiobook narrator Johnny Epstein will be opening the Read-A-Thon! \nReading will be a mix of live readers and remote participants on Zoom. Please sign up through this link and claim your spot today! While you’re welcome to sign up for as many ten minute slots as you would like\, we encourage you not to read for more than one consecutive slot. \nWhen you sign up\, please specify whether you will be at Arrowhead in person or through Zoom.
