SUMMARY:Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Downtown Pittsfield!
DESCRIPTION:Partners including The Funk Box Dance Studio\, Dance with Luana\, THECOLLAB\, Katunemo Art Collective\, Hot Plate Brewing Co.\, Panchos Mexican Restaurant\, Latinas413\, Tito’s Mexican Bar & Grill\, and MassDevelopment’s Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) are thrilled to announce the first-ever Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Downtown Pittsfield. This celebration will honor the stories\, cultures\, and contributions of community members of the Berkshires who have heritage from Spain\, Mexico\, the Caribbean\, and Central and South America. \nEvents include: \nSunday\, September 8\, 5 to 7 pm: Dance class and performance in Dunham Mall lead by Andres Ramirez\, owner of The Funk Box Dance Studio \nSunday\, September 15\, 5 to 7 pm: Cumbia music at Hot Plate Brewing Co.\, 1 School Street\, with “Media Noche\,” a Berkshire-based Cumbia band \nSunday\, September 22\, 5 to 7 pm: Salsa and Bachata classes with Luana Dias in Dunham Mall \nFriday\, September 27\, 5 to 7 pm: An art workshop in Spanish led by Katunemo Art Collective and information about Latinas413 programming at THECOLLAB\, 163 North Street \nWednesday\, October 2\, 7 to 9 pm: Storytelling and open mic in Spanish hosted by Melchor Cine at Hot Plate Brewing Co.\, 1 School Street \nFriday\, October 4\, 5 to 7 pm: Reception for Open Exhibition with Katunemo Art Collective at Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and Framework\, 437 North Street \nSaturday\, October 12\, 7 to 9 pm: Tornado Musical Music Performance at Tito’s Mexican Bar and Grill\, 34 Depot Street \nBerkshire County’s Latin American and Hispanic immigrant population is growing. This celebration aims to honor\, recognize\, and support the contributions of the Hispanic population in the district and county by sharing music\, dance\, and food with the community. It also seeks to foster a sense of belonging and create opportunities for new immigrant business owners and artists. \nThis celebration is part of MassDevelopment’s TDI for Gateway Cities which is working to revitalize North Street by promoting cultural and economic growth. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and Framework\, 437 North Street\, will feature a new Katunemo Exhibition: Who We Are for the month of October as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Downtown Pittsfield. \nWho We Are highlights the diverse backgrounds of immigrant artists living in the Berkshires\, offering a glimpse into their stories and celebrating their unique contributions to our community. \nArtists include: (from Colombia) Camilo Cardenas\, Camila Cuevas\, Emmanuel Arguelles Vagas\, Felipe Romero\, Juanita Latorre\, Melchor Films\, Shelsy Rodriguez; (from Argentina) Andrea Puebla\, Aylen Dominguez Clara Guatta\, Maru Dominguez; and (from Ecuador) Angie Soasti\, Micaela Sasti\, and Ruben Uribe. \nThere will be an opening reception with the artists on Friday\, October 4\, from 5 to 7 pm\, and the show will be on view Monday-Friday through October 31 by visiting the Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. offices at 431 North Street during normal business hours. \nDowntown Pittsfield\, Inc. y Framework\, 437 North Street\, presentarán una nueva exposición de Katunemo: “Quienes Somos” durante el mes de octubre como parte de la celebración del Mes de la Herencia Hispana en el centro de Pittsfield. \nQuienes somos destaca los diversos orígenes de los artistas inmigrantes que viven en los Berkshires\, ofreciendo una mirada a sus historias y celebrando sus contribuciones únicas a nuestra comunidad. \nHabrá una recepción de apertura con los artistas el viernes 4 de octubre\, de 5 a 7 pm\, y la muestra estará en exhibición de lunes a viernes hasta el 31 de octubre visitando las oficinas de Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. en 431 North Street durante el horario comercial normal.
