DESCRIPTION:Join NAACP Berkshires for this year’s Juneteenth Celebration—honoring Black independence\, resilience\, and culture—beginning with the raising of the Juneteenth flag and the reading of proclamations at Pittsfield City Hall\, followed by a Freedom Walk to Durant Park.Once at Durant Park\, the day-long festival kicks off at noon with food\, entertainment\, vendors\, and community partners. The celebration includes:– Reading of the Juneteenth Proclamation– Student scholarship presentations– Unveiling of a mural honoring the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment – the first volunteer Black regiment raised in the North.Entertainment Highlights:– 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament with Jerome Edgerton– Live music and dance performances on the main stage– DJ Champ spinning throughout the dayFamily activities include a bouncy house\, crafts\, face painting\, and storytime. Free ice cream will be available for children\, and a free lunch will be provided to all fathers in attendance. \n  \nThis event is free and open to all!Durant Park is wheelchair accessible and flat-level. Please note that there will be amplified music throughout the day and limited shaded seating available under a tent. June weather is typically hot and sunny\, so we encourage guests to bring sun protection and stay hydrated.Juneteenth\, also known as Black Independence Day\, is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. has announced a new summer dance series titled “Rhythmscape” on Dunham Mall\, select Sunday afternoons from 6 to 8 pm\, June 1 – August 31. Dunham Mall can be located by entering 100 North Street on your GPS. \nEach session will highlight a different rhythm and instructor from our local community\, reflecting the many identities that make Pittsfield home. Rhythmscape is free and open to all and encourages everyone to experience the joy of movement and the beauty of cultural exchange. No experience is necessary to participate. \nSandra Zarate is a Colombian Zumba® instructor with over 10 years of experience sharing her passion for dance and fitness with people of all ages and skill levels. Since 2013\, she has been teaching Zumba® and holds multiple certifications\, including Aqua Zumba\, Zumba Sentao\, Zumba Toning\, Zumba Step\, Zumba Gold\, and Zumba Jr. & Kids. \nSandra loves what she does and finds great joy in helping her students reach their goals while having fun along the way. She believes that in today’s fast-paced and hyper-connected world\, it’s essential to create moments to disconnect and focus on ourselves. Her classes are designed to be that space — a place to move\, laugh\, sweat\, and feel alive. \nHer mission is to cultivate a fun\, energetic\, and welcoming environment where everyone feels inspired to dance\, express themselves\, and enjoy the journey to better health.
