(437 North Street). \nFeatured artists are Carly Holmes\, Riley Wilde\, Jesus Alicea\, and Kenny Davis. \nThere will be an opening reception with the artists during the August 1st First Fridays Artswalk from 5 to 8 pm. \nThe exhibition will be on view Monday through Thursday\, 10 am to 2 pm\, August 1 through August 25\, by visiting the Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. offices at 431 North Street. \nCarly Holmes is a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and describes herself as an emerging artist with a passion for creating art. “I have always loved creating art\,” Carly says. “As a child\, I was constantly drawing and crafting. I have explored drawing\, ceramics\, and 3-dimensional design. But painting with acrylics is where my true passion lies. I view my work as a reflection of my ever-evolving interests\, and as a personal outlet for self-expression.” \nThe Pittsfield Let It Shine! Public Art Partnership has selected Carly to co-create a new mural to be located at the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority Intermodal Center alongside mentor artist\, Jesse Tobin McCauley. The mural will debut at a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this summer. Carly is also the City of Pittsfield’s inaugural artist-in-residence\, and she is currently working out of studio space in the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts. \nRiley Wilde’s journey as an aspiring visual artist began in 2021 and has become vital in expressing herself in ways that words can’t anymore. Each painting is led by intuition and always with a new approach to create a vibrant and intriguing piece of work. \n“Sustainability is key to my process\, as it doesn’t feel right unless I’m practicing with a considerate mindset\,” says Riley. “Using recycled bottles for paint\, repurposing old canvases\, and catching excess drips to create new pieces is the only way I practice. Trying not to waste anything — creatively or emotionally.” \n“In the last year\, I’ve been expanding my practice while in collaboration with my partner and fellow artist\, Daniel Stone\, on some very large pieces. He has also challenged me to consider working with new surfaces\, styles\, and methods. Such as\, creating reliefs\, mosaics\, illustrating figures\, and using acrylic and wood surfaces. This has been rewarding and valuable in my growth as an artist and has made me feel seen. I’m looking forward to what my work continues to evolve into. Whether you’re an art lover\, curious traveler\, or local explorer\, this lively 2-hour guided walking tour offers a dynamic look into the artists and murals transforming the heart of Pittsfield. \n  \nLed by local artist Jesse Tobin McCauley\, the tour will wind through Downtown Pittsfield\, spotlighting the vibrant murals and painted utility boxes. \n  \nYou’ll visit Instagram-worthy stops like:\n• Mike Carty’s LOVE mural on Linden Street\n• Silvia Lopez Chavez’s SISTERHOOD mural on North Street\n• Ramiro Davaro-Comas’s LET AUTUMN SHINE mural in Dunham Mall\n… and many more hidden gems along the way. \n  \nAs you explore\, you’ll hear the stories behind the art and get to know the talented artists shaping Pittsfield’s visual identity. The mural will debut at a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this summer. Carly is also the City of Pittsfield’s inaugural artist-in-residence\, and she is currently working out of studio space in the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts. \nRiley Wilde’s journey as an aspiring visual artist began in 2021 and has become vital in expressing herself in ways that words can’t anymore. Each painting is led by intuition and always with a new approach to create a vibrant and intriguing piece of work. \n“Sustainability is key to my process\, as it doesn’t feel right unless I’m practicing with a considerate mindset\,” says Riley. “Using recycled bottles for paint\, repurposing old canvases\, and catching excess drips to create new pieces is the only way I practice. Trying not to waste anything — creatively or emotionally.” \n“In the last year\, I’ve been expanding my practice while in collaboration with my partner and fellow artist\, Daniel Stone\, on some very large pieces. He has also challenged me to consider working with new surfaces\, styles\, and methods. Such as\, creating reliefs\, mosaics\, illustrating figures\, and using acrylic and wood surfaces. This has been rewarding and valuable in my growth as an artist and has made me feel seen. I’m looking forward to what my work continues to evolve into. Sometimes it’s messy and weird\, but also alive. I have explored drawing\, ceramics\, and 3-dimensional design. But painting with acrylics is where my true passion lies. I view my work as a reflection of my ever-evolving interests\, and as a personal outlet for self-expression.” \nThe Pittsfield Let It Shine! Public Art Partnership has selected Carly to co-create a new mural to be located at the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority Intermodal Center alongside mentor artist\, Jesse Tobin McCauley. The mural will debut at a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this summer. Carly is also the City of Pittsfield’s inaugural artist-in-residence\, and she is currently working out of studio space in the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts. \nRiley Wilde’s journey as an aspiring visual artist began in 2021 and has become vital in expressing herself in ways that words can’t anymore. Each painting is led by intuition and always with a new approach to create a vibrant and intriguing piece of work. \n“Sustainability is key to my process\, as it doesn’t feel right unless I’m practicing with a considerate mindset\,” says Riley. “Using recycled bottles for paint\, repurposing old canvases\, and catching excess drips to create new pieces is the only way I practice. Trying not to waste anything — creatively or emotionally.” \n“In the last year\, I’ve been expanding my practice while in collaboration with my partner and fellow artist\, Daniel Stone\, on some very large pieces. He has also challenged me to consider working with new surfaces\, styles\, and methods. Such as\, creating reliefs\, mosaics\, illustrating figures\, and using acrylic and wood surfaces. This has been rewarding and valuable in my growth as an artist and has made me feel seen. I’m looking forward to what my work continues to evolve into. Sometimes it’s messy and weird\, but also alive. A reflection of everything I’ve survived and everything I’ve yet to bloom into.” \nJesus Alicea is a multidisciplinary artist driven by a deep love for language and visual storytelling. His work explores the relationship between words and images—through logo design\, poster art\, cartoons\, poetry\, and creative writing. \nJesus creates playful yet purposeful visuals\, often using illustrated characters to deliver promotional messages in ways that text or live action can’t. “My design work focuses on clarity and meaning\, whether I’m crafting a logo or composing a visual narrative\,” says Jesus. \n“Storytelling is at the core of my practice. Through poetry and media projects\, I aim to connect with audiences in ways that are both creative and accessible. I’m always open to feedback\, collaboration\, and new creative challenges.” \nKenny Davis is a lifelong resident of Pittsfield who has worked on several murals around the city. “In my senior year at Pittsfield High School\, I both experimented with my 2D style and created 3D works to tell my unique story\,” says Kenny. “Now that I am eighteen years old\, I am working on developing a vibrant style that makes me proud!” \nThe gallery at Framework by Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. is funded in part by a grant from the Pittsfield Cultural Council; a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency.

The project documents their stories\, resilience\, and shared dreams while examining the generational ties that shape identity and community. \n  \nLiving in Recovery\, 75 North Street\, will feature artworks by Ms. Michael Kennedy on Friday\, August 1\, from 5 to 8 pm\, at a reception with the artist. \n  \nMichael Kennedy is an actor\, playwright\, director\, and producer\, and the founder and Artistic Director of Creative Action Unlimited\, a theater/film production company dedicated to the collaborative creation of works about social issues. She taught acting at the NYS Theatre Institute Theater Arts School\, where she created multiple original productions with high school students. She has directed a number of productions at CAU\, has directed multiple times at Theater Voices\, and served as the lead teaching artist for WAM’s 2024 Elder Ensemble program\, where she will return to teach and direct the Elder Ensemble in 2025. Michael has also worked as a consultant in the formation and development of the Playback Theater of the Berkshires. \n  \nAlthough Michael does not identify as a visual artist\, for a period of about 6 months\, 20 years ago\, she was led to create a series of charcoal drawings\, depicting the evolving conflict occurring in an alternate world. Each drawing in this series was created while listening to “Kronos Quartet Performs Philip Glass” and was created only with grayscale charcoal\, paper\, and finger drawing. \n  \nThe Marketplace Cafe\, 53 North Street\, will feature Mary Davidson’s stamped paintings in her “Abstract Series” for the month of August. Mary Davidson is an artist living in the Berkshires. Her passion for art runs deep. Mary’s abstract paintings in this exhibit are a part of a series of 40 paintings. His work blends graffiti\, mixed media\, and 3D Elements; often using old spray paint cans\, large canvases\, and overlooked material to explore memory\, decay\, and survival. Rooted in hip-hop and childhood nostalgia\, Ma’leek paints the beauty in what’s broken or overlooked. His mission is simple: to be seen amongst the rubble when everything else fades. “Art is my record. My resistance. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and Framework will feature a brand-new exhibition featuring a collection of Huck Elling’s recent paintings exploring color\, patterns\, and pursuit of joy. The exhibition will be on view July 7 through July 24\, 2025\, at Framework by Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. (437 North Street). \nThis year\, Huck was selected to create the poster for the 2025 Pittsfield Fourth of July Parade. The theme being “Young at Heart”. The original artwork will be on view as part of this exhibition. \n“I have always been motivated to make art which inspires human connections\,” says Huck. “For more than twelve years I have been fortunate to be working as a professional artist\, in a variety of mediums\, methods and scales\, and at the heart of everything I do is the desire to inspire curiosity\, connection\, and joy.” \n“Public Art has the specific beauty of belonging to everyone\, it is art without barriers. Her style blends atmosphere\, memory\, and light\, creating emotionally resonant works that have been commissioned and collected internationally. With a 25-year career at Crane & Co. hand bordering luxury stationery for names like Cartier\, Tiffany & Co.\, and Aretha Franklin\, her artistic pedigree is matched only by her passion and perseverance. \n  \nRoots and Dreams and Mustard Seeds\, 119 Fenn Street\, will present eco-friendly products by Aisha B. and the Cosmic CoArt Cooperative’s Cosmic Butterfly Procession project during a reception on Saturday\, July 12\, 1 to 4 pm\, during the Special Saturday Artswalk. \n  \nArtist and artisan Aisha B. will be showcasing her natural handcrafted eco-friendly products which include reusable concrete candles\, zero-waste soaps\, clay jewelry\, canvas art\, and more alongside the Cosmic CoArt Cooperative’s Cosmic Butterfly Procession project. \n  \nThe Cosmic CoArt Cooperative is a multi-talented artist cooperative that strives to thread together common strengths through the living arts. His surreal landscapes have been displayed at the Berkshire Museum\, Gallery 14\, and Rehoboth Art League. Sean runs an art installation business and is Exhibitions Curator at the Becket Arts Center. Berkshire Art Association recently voted him as VP of Exhibitions where he is in charge of development\, expansion\, and installation of their art exhibitions. \n  \nContrasted by stillness\, drama unfolds as cascading shadows fall heavily on the colorful landscape. Figures find themselves bathed in the sun as they dot the landscape and contemplate their surroundings. Whether you’re an art lover\, curious traveler\, or local explorer\, this lively 2-hour guided walking tour offers a dynamic look into the artists and murals transforming the heart of Pittsfield. \n  \nLed by local artist Jesse Tobin McCauley\, the tour will wind through Downtown Pittsfield\, spotlighting the vibrant murals and painted utility boxes. \n  \nYou’ll visit Instagram-worthy stops like:\n• Mike Carty’s LOVE mural on Linden Street\n• Silvia Lopez Chavez’s SISTERHOOD mural on North Street\n• Ramiro Davaro-Comas’s LET AUTUMN SHINE mural in Dunham Mall\n… and many more hidden gems along the way. \n  \nAs you explore\, you’ll hear the stories behind the art and get to know the talented artists shaping Pittsfield’s visual identity.
