This is the fourth in an ongoing series of DPI Community Coffee Chats downtown open to representatives from small businesses and nonprofits in Pittsfield and Berkshire County. This is a drop-in event\, and coffee and a light breakfast will be provided. \nAugust 19th’s Chat Topic is Stop Marketing Alone: How Local Businesses Can Grow Through Smarter Marketing and Collaboration. This informal drop-in session is focused on smarter marketing and local collaboration\, and is led by Jocelyn Guelce\, founder and CEO of Guelce Collaborative Marketing. \nMarketing a small business can feel overwhelming—but doing more isn’t always the answer. Join Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and Jocelyn Guelce for an interactive Community Coffee Chat designed to help local business owners focus their marketing\, make better use of the resources they already have\, and build valuable community partnerships. \nAttendees will assess their current marketing\, identify three practical priorities\, and participate in a collaboration exercise connecting local businesses around shared audiences\, resources\, and opportunities. \nThis event is free and open to local business owners\, organizations\, and community members. No experience is necessary to participate. THIS EVENT IS AT THE LICHTENSTEIN CENTER FOR THE ARTS at 28 Renne Avenue! \nAt the Sunday\, August 23 session\, enjoy an Intro to Salsa class with Luana Dias David open to all ages and experience levels. Beginners are welcome! The class runs from 6 to 8 pm. \nSalsa is a partnered dance where the lead takes the follow through a series of spins and turn patterns to music. Salsa dancers can also break apart during a dance to dance solo\, known as “shines\,” and that is what we will work on for the first hour of this class. Jill will be drawing a large ink sketch of First Friday during the September 4 First Fridays at Five from 5 to 8 pm. \nAs an unofficial finale to the 2026 season of the Urban Sketching Meetup\, Jill will be drawing a large ink sketch of First Friday and invites viewers to come add color to the scene and enjoy how the vibrancy\, liveliness\, and unpredictability of watercolor paint can capture life in interesting ways. \nUrban Sketching Meetup is a free gathering that Jill hosts once a month from June to September. Running every year since 2020\, the meetup is an opportunity for people who want to come out and try urban sketching (sketching in public places from life) but may not want to try it alone\, or simply want a casual excuse to do art together. \nEach event\, a downtown Pittsfield location is designated as the meet up spot and participants explore the area with their chosen art supplies. You can practice urban sketching outdoors or indoors and draw anything you see in front of you. It’s a great way to get to know your local community. \nJill McLean is an artist and Pittsfield native inspired by a wide range of local subjects\, from still lifes and florals to landscapes and animals. Working in watercolor and oil\, Jill’s portfolio includes everything from urban sketches and plein air paintings to planned series and formal studio pieces. Often taking her art outside of the studio\, you may find her painting on local hiking trails and at community events. \n“Art in the Park” is supported in part by the Feigenbaum Foundation. \n“Art in the Park” is supported in part by a grant from the Mass Cultural Council\, and a grant from the Pittsfield Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency.

DESCRIPTION:Persip Park\, 175 North Street\, will feature a live performance by Misty Blues from 5 to 8 pm. Enjoy a beer garden from Hot Plate Brewing Co. and local food vendors within the vicinity. \n  \n2019 International Blues Challenge finalist\, Misty Blues\, is fronted by lead singer/band founder Gina Coleman. The band is based out of Berkshire County playing original and traditional blues with hints of jazz\, soul\, funk and tent revival gospel since 1999. The band has recorded with Eric Gales\, Charles Neville and Joe Louis Walker\, and opened for contemporary blues artists like Mike Zito\, Albert Castiglia\, Tab Benoit\, James Montgomery\, John Primer\, Roomful Of Blues\, Albert Cummings and Shemekia Copeland. Misty Blues performs extensively throughout New England and has toured the continental U.S.\, Canada\, and the UK. The band has been nominated for a few Independent Blues Music Awards\, and their original recordings have broad international airplay. In 2024\, the band had a song they released selected for use in a U.S. Presidential campaign ad. \n  \nIn the case of inclement weather\, Misty Blues will be at Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church\, 27 East Street.
