SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Making Marks by Caroline Kelley
DESCRIPTION:Berkshire Art Center (BAC) will host Making Marks by Caroline Kelley at Framework by Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. located at 437 North Street. \nThere will be an opening reception with the artist on Friday\, October 2\, from 5 to 7 pm at 437 North Street. \nMaking Marks offers an opportunity to experience Kelley’s ongoing investigation of the mark as both gesture and language. Through drawing and painting\, she explores the ways seemingly spontaneous lines\, shapes\, and layers can accumulate into something more intentional — an expressive visual vocabulary shaped by instinct\, observation\, and the rhythms of the world around her. \nCaroline Kelley is an abstract artist working primarily in acrylic paint\, collage\, charcoal\, and colored pencil. Her process is intuitive and exploratory\, guided by the evolving interplay of color\, shape\, line\, and texture. Deeply inspired by the natural beauty of the Berkshires and the vibrant artistic community that surrounds her\, Kelley creates expressive\, dynamic works that invite viewers into a world of movement\, energy\, and discovery. \nBorn and raised in the Berkshires\, Kelley studied art at Bard College and has continued to deepen her practice through a range of immersive learning experiences\, including studies at the Woodstock School of Art in Woodstock\, New York\, and the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill in Truro\, Massachusetts. She has also been a member of Drawing Galaxy\, a collective of abstract artists whose work has been exhibited throughout the Hudson Valley. \nKelley currently lives and works in Pittsfield\, Massachusetts\, where she is a proud member of the Clock Tower Artists. Her studio\, located in the vibrant Clock Tower Business Park at Studio 306\, 75 South Church Street\, opens to the public during First Fridays at Five and at select times throughout the year. \nHer work has been exhibited throughout the Berkshires\, the Hudson Valley\, Southern Vermont\, and Hawaii. Each place has offered its own landscape\, atmosphere\, and creative influence\, contributing new layers to an ongoing artistic exploration rooted in color\, gesture\, and the possibilities of abstraction. \nThe exhibition will be on view Monday through Thursday\, 10 am to 2 pm\, October 2 through October 29\, by visiting the Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. offices at 431 North Street\, or by appointment.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Jody King Camarra
DESCRIPTION:Hotel on North will feature an exhibition of mixed media and collage by Jody King Camarra October through December of 2026. There will be an opening reception with the artist on Friday\, October 2\, from 5 to 7 pm. \nJody King Camarra is a mixed-media artist\, illustrator\, and teaching artist living and working in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Her studio practice explores the possibilities of collage\, gel-plate monoprinting\, found papers\, and other layered materials. \nCamarra’s work begins with experimentation. She prints\, tears\, cuts\, prints\, layers\, obscures\, and rebuilds\, allowing both intention and chance to shape the final piece. Her process often leaves behind traces of what came before: torn edges\, buried marks\, unexpected textures\, and fragments that suggest memory\, change\, and transformation. \nThis exhibition at Hotel on North features mostly new mixed-media\, monoprints and collages created in her Ashley Falls studio. Together\, the works reflect an ongoing interest in the imperfect\, physical\, and intuitive nature of making art by hand.

DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Downtown Pittsfield… It’s Alive! Kids’ Zone will be held on Saturday\, October 17\, 11 am to 2 pm\, on the St. Joseph’s Church lawn. The Kids’ Zone will feature a bounce house\, Halloween-themed arts & crafts\, games\, face painting\, balloon twisting\, giveaways\, a live DJ\, and more! All Kids’ Zone activities are free\, and costumes are encouraged. \nThere will be Face Painting and Balloon Twisting by BTC Family Entertainment (Bowey the Clown and Magic Brushes). Balloon twisting will be from 11 am to 12:30 pm only. \nDJ Bengey will provide the Halloween party jams\, Carr Hardware will provide the Bounce House\, and Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. will host a Halloween Paint & Sip activity. \nBerkshire Museum will be there with an Ancient Egypt related art activity and Large Dinosaur Bone Blocks for kids to make their own dinosaurs. Scouting America – Western Massachusetts Council will provide supervised range activities including an inflatable archery range with foam-tipped arrows and a backyard tomahawk range. \nThere will be additional free activities provided by the Berkshire Athenaeum\, Berkshire County Head Start\, Berkshire District Attorney’s Office\, the City of Pittsfield Parks & Recreation Department\, and Foster MA/Adopt MA. \nThe rain location for the Downtown Pittsfield… It’s Alive!
