Branden Huldeen will present Mill Town Capital/Mill Town Foundation with the 2024 Downtown Pittsfield Community Award for their continued commitment to the downtown through capital investments and their support of DPI and organizations that promote growth and activity in the district. \nSarah Real of Hot Plate Brewing Co. will present Pete White with the 2024 Robert K. DESCRIPTION:This basic Facebook and Instagram class is for members and member businesses of Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and their employees. This beginner level class will be an introduction to using Facebook and Instagram for your business. \nLearn how to: \n-choose images and content for your social media pages\n-use hashtags\n-create a basic Facebook ad\n-incorporate the Heart of the Berkshires toolkit \nPlease bring your laptops and smart phones as there will be an opportunity to practice and work through social media issues. \nIf you need help setting up a social media account\, there will also be an opportunity to work with the instructor at the end of class. \nThis class will be led by Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc.’s marketing coordinator\, Kimberly Gritman. \nChoose from two 1-hour sessions held at the Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. We will also explore current barriers to entry for DPI membership and what additional benefits would be most impactful for current and future members. \n  \nWhy Attend? \nLearn how DPI can help your business \n\nLearn more about Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and how becoming a member can support your business\n\nContribute membership ideas to DPI \n\nShare your experiences and contribute your ideas for improving downtown business to DPI’s staff and board\n\nMeet other downtown business owners \n\nConnect with other community-oriented business owners and community members passionate about growing Pittsfield’s downtown\n\nGet involved \n\nTake part in the Idea Jam and discover additional community opportunities\, downtown initiatives\, and projects to get involved with\n\n  \nThe Idea Jam Experience: \nWe are using a method based on design thinking to keep discussion and narratives positive and focused on creativity and innovation. \n  \n“Design is a form of solution-focused thinking with the intent of producing a constructive future result. \nDesign thinking identifies and investigates both known and ambiguous aspects of the current situation in an effort to discover parameters and alternative solution sets which may lead to one or more satisfactory goals. Because design-thinking is iterative\, intermediate “solutions” are potential starting points of alternative paths\, allowing for a redefinition of the initial problem\, in a process of co-evolution of problem and solution”[1]  \n  \nThe Idea Jam is a fast-paced brainstorm session. We will break event attendees into three work groups that will brainstorm on three main topics. Each group will have a facilitator to ensure that the group stays on topic and maintains a positive group flow and tone. We then switch stations to allow each group the opportunity to “Jam” on each of the three topics. \n  \nAfterward\, the three groups return to their original topic and vote on the top ideas that will move forward to the main Idea Jam board. Then each facilitator will present the top ideas from each group. \n  \nLastly\, everyone will vote with colored stickers on the top ideas. Each sticker will hold a different value to give the participant a way to weight their choice. \n  \nWho is R3SET Enterprises? \nR3set Enterprises is a local Benefit Corporation working with Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. to apply strategies and tactics utilized by Silicon Valley start-ups for community and economic development. \n  \nWhy is R3SET sponsoring the DPI Idea Jam? \n“Frankly\, we want Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. to achieve its goals. \nWe live\, work\, and play in Pittsfield and want to see the city flourish. \n  \nGetting to know some of the people working to bring back downtown has only strengthened our belief in Pittsfield and the Berkshires.
