She has shown in solo and group shows in Massachusetts and New York. As the Executive Director of IS183 Art School of the Berkshires she works to ensure that the critical human need to make art can be experienced by everyone. She graduated with a BA in Art History and Education from Mount Holyoke College. Lucie primarily works in cut paper; exploring the connection between living things through anatomy and architecture. Her art is informed by her egalitarian and inclusive worldview: “Nobody is better than anyone else\, and beneath our exteriors\, we all have the same bones.” https://luciecastaldoart.weebly.com/ \nSean McCusker is a local artist who has shown in the Berkshire Museum\, Lichtenstein Center for the Arts\, and The Artful Mind Gallery. His work is build up of thin translucent layers of oil paint; producing surreal landscapes full of light\, color\, and mystery. Active in the arts community\, he is currently a member of the Berkshire Art Association after spending years on the Artscape Committee and curating shows for the First Fridays Artswalk in Pittfield. https://www.sean-mccusker.com/ \nIlene Richard attended the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and majored in Illustration\, Graphic Design\, and Jewelry Design. During her four years studying illustration\, she was introduced to the business of children’s book illustration. Ilene worked in the jewelry design field for 15 years and was published multiple times in national trade magazines for her unusual sculptural pieces. She still had a yearning to break into the children’s book market\, so with a new goal in place\, she put a hold on her jewelry business\, and started to focus on her drawing and painting skills again. Ilene attended the DeCordova Museum School and the Museum School in Boston. Now she can say that she has had the honor to have worked with many large publishing houses and has had many books published. Her career is truly a joy\, and she intends on drawing and painting forever. http://www.ilenerichard.com/ \nMichael Rousseau was born in Pittsfield\, Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and a Master of Arts in Teaching (K-12) from the Rhode Island School of Design\, RISD. http://www.mrousseau.com/ \nClemente Sajquiy Ramirez is an immigrant from Guatemala\, and a person who is passionate about community and social justice. Clemente considers himself more of an dual artist and activist as each day passes\, being more inclined to use art as a medium in which to express his opinion. \nMarney Schorr is just one of 20 exhibiting artists at NUarts Gallery & Studios\, 311 North St\, a group that collaborates with area organizations and participates in First Fridays Artswalk May-Oct and Dec\, with interactive open studios and art shows. Marney is a teaching artist\, art therapist and founder/director of the award winning Arts in Recovery for Youth program (AIRY) which helps youth ages 13-26 recover from suicidal thoughts with the expressive arts. SUMMARY:DPI Membership Gathering: Downtown Pittsfield Idea Jam!
DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. members and friends\, you are invited to the next DPI Membership Gathering! \nDPI and R3SET Enterprises will present a Downtown Pittsfield Idea Jam on Wednesday\, October 10th at Framework\, 437 North Street\, from 8:30 to 10:30 am. \nThis will be an organized brainstorming session about Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. membership. We want to know what works\, what doesn’t\, and if you are utilizing your membership benefits to capacity. \nThis event is open to everyone. \nThe Babbling Brooke’s Bagels will be providing fresh\, homemade bagels\, lox\, and cream cheese! \nPlease share this invitation with your colleagues and click here to RSVP. \nWe look forward to seeing you! \n  \n  \nDowntown Pittsfield\, Inc. Idea Jam\nTheme: Membership Development\nFacilitated by R3SET Enterprises \n  \nThe Idea Jam will closely examine the benefits and features of the Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. (DPI) membership experience and how DPI can further support and serve the success of downtown and downtown business. \n  \nThe Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. Idea Jam is a gathering and opportunity for downtown business owners and DPI members to engage with Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. staff and board members as well as other downtown business owners and DPI members. We will look for deeper insights into what DPI benefits current members find useful and how we can amplify their effects. We will also explore current barriers to entry for DPI membership and what additional benefits would be most impactful for current and future members. \n  \nWhy Attend? \nLearn how DPI can help your business \n\nLearn more about Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and how becoming a member can support your business\n\nContribute membership ideas to DPI \n\nShare your experiences and contribute your ideas for improving downtown business to DPI’s staff and board\n\nMeet other downtown business owners \n\nConnect with other community-oriented business owners and community members passionate about growing Pittsfield’s downtown\n\nGet involved \n\nTake part in the Idea Jam and discover additional community opportunities\, downtown initiatives\, and projects to get involved with\n\n  \nThe Idea Jam Experience: \nWe are using a method based on design thinking to keep discussion and narratives positive and focused on creativity and innovation. \n  \n“Design is a form of solution-focused thinking with the intent of producing a constructive future result. \nDesign thinking identifies and investigates both known and ambiguous aspects of the current situation in an effort to discover parameters and alternative solution sets which may lead to one or more satisfactory goals. Because design-thinking is iterative\, intermediate “solutions” are potential starting points of alternative paths\, allowing for a redefinition of the initial problem\, in a process of co-evolution of problem and solution”[1]  \n  \nThe Idea Jam is a fast-paced brainstorm session. We will break event attendees into three work groups that will brainstorm on three main topics. Each group will have a facilitator to ensure that the group stays on topic and maintains a positive group flow and tone. We then switch stations to allow each group the opportunity to “Jam” on each of the three topics. \n  \nAfterward\, the three groups return to their original topic and vote on the top ideas that will move forward to the main Idea Jam board. Then each facilitator will present the top ideas from each group. \n  \nLastly\, everyone will vote with colored stickers on the top ideas. Each sticker will hold a different value to give the participant a way to weight their choice. \n  \nWho is R3SET Enterprises? \nR3set Enterprises is a local Benefit Corporation working with Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. to apply strategies and tactics utilized by Silicon Valley start-ups for community and economic development. \n  \nWhy is R3SET sponsoring the DPI Idea Jam? \n“Frankly\, we want Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. to achieve its goals. \nWe live\, work\, and play in Pittsfield and want to see the city flourish. \n  \nGetting to know some of the people working to bring back downtown has only strengthened our belief in Pittsfield and the Berkshires. We’ve become excited to share some of the tools we’ve incorporated into our organization with DPI and its community. \n  \nTo build the types of organizations that we’re passionate about\, we’ve incorporated many tools and strategies used by Silicon Valley. One of the most impactful has been to incorporate collaborative design thinking with community stakeholders. \n  \nThat’s why we’re starting our collaboration with DPI with an Idea Jam.” \n  \n  \n  \n[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_thinking#cite_note-Dorst&Cross_Coevolution-10 \nDowntown Pittsfield photo by Emma K.
