SUMMARY:Chester Bailey at Barrington Stage Company
DESCRIPTION:New York Times Critic’s Pick\nChester Bailey\nBy JOSEPH DOUGHERTY\nStarring REED BIRNEY and EPHRAIM BIRNEY\nDirected by RON LAGOMARSINO\nJUNE 18–JULY 9\nBy popular demand: performances added!\nJULY 8\, 7:30 PM \nIndoors at the Boyd-Quinson Stage\,\n30 Union Street\, Pittsfield\, MA\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn a stateside hospital at the close of World War II\, a young man recovers from catastrophic injuries. Or so the doctors have told him. But Chester Bailey denies what’s happened to him has actually happened\, which is how he comes under the care of Dr. Philip Cotton. Older\, wounded in his own ways\, Cotton is charged with leading Chester back to reality. The journey is not what either man expected. Chester Bailey stars real-life father and son\, Tony Award winner Reed Birney (The Humans\, “House of Cards”) and Ephraim Birney (“Gotham\,” “The Americans”)\, as doctor and patient. \nThe Washington Post hailed Chester Bailey as “a keenly observed\, beautifully written tale about guilt and psychological resilience in World War II-era America\, and a luminous showcase for father-son actors Reed Birney and Ephraim Birney.”

SUMMARY:“Art@Arrowhead: A Whale of a Show!” Guild of Berkshire Artists Art Show
DESCRIPTION:The Guild of Berkshire Artists is thrilled to announce that it is mounting its first in-person show in two years at Arrowhead\, the bucolic home of Herman Melville in Pittsfield.  The show will take place outdoors under a large white tent – think white whale! – on Saturday and Sunday\, July 24 and 25\, from 10 am to 5 pm each day.  The location is Arrowhead\, 780 Holmes Road\, Pittsfield\, MA. The show is free and open to the public. \n\nIn making this announcement\, the Guild’s President Margie Skaggs said: “Arrowhead represents the intersection of the arts\, culture and landscape of the Berkshires. Our Guild’s visual artists have often gained inspiration from these surroundings\, as did writers such as Herman Melville\, who spun his tale of the great white whale while gazing from his studio at the snow-covered eminence of Greylock Mountain.” \n\nApproximately 40 artists from among the Guild’s more than 170 members will be exhibiting works in oil\, watercolor\, acrylics\, sculpture\, ceramics\, stained glass\, mixed media and wood working.
