Local artist Michelle Iglesias will feature a live demonstration with commentary of a large-scale painting of a local landscape or streetscape at her studios at Berkshire Paint and Sip. Dottie’s Coffee Lounge will present “Food as Art: Make your baking a creative expression” with hands on demos\, and Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. will host an original show\, on view for the first time\, of 38 photos that were submitted as part of their 1st ever Pittsfield Photo Challenge. There will also be an Artswalk Scavenger Hunt for specific artworks throughout the downtown\, and prizes will be awarded. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. (DPI) will feature photography by Charles Edson for the month of June. There will be a reception during First Fridays Artswalk on Friday\, June 7\, 5 to 8 pm. \nCharles Edson is an avid hiker and adventure photographer who captures his journeys and experiences while hiking the mountains of the Northeast. Originally from Maryland\, Charles moved north to Massachusetts in 2010 to attend college. In the Berkshire Mountains\, Charles also fell in love with hiking- a love that would lead him to the tops of mountains throughout the Northeast and across the United States. He’s climbed all of the mountains over 4000 feet in elevation in New York\, Vermont\, New Hampshire and Maine. Charles has also summited Mount Rainier\, the highest mountain in Washington and one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. He has his sights on climbing Mount Denali\, the highest peak in North America and one of the most prominent peaks on Earth. Charles enjoys the challenge of mountaineering and adventuring in some of nature’s most challenging conditions. When not climbing mountains\, he’s enjoys volunteering in the outdoors and giving back to the hiking community. Charles is a corridor monitor for the Massachusetts Section of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and a volunteer Search and Rescue member. He currently resides in Lee\, Massachusetts. The TL Collective fuses contemporary dance and theatrical hip-hop with elements of groove and acrobatics\, bringing high levels of athleticism to the stage. \nArtistic Director Micaela Taylor is highly acclaimed\, included as one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” and recent recipient of the Inaugural EMERGE Choreographic Award from Springboard Danse Montréal. The TL Collective performs Taylor’s newest evening-length work “Drift”\, which seeks to demonstrate an individual’s ever-changing relationship to self while exposing a personal season of self-growth.
