Kristine Hurley resided in Berkshire County for 18 years during General Electric’s heyday in Pittsfield with England Brothers department store and Thursday night shopping on North Street. She attended Pittsfield Public Schools and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in San Diego, CA with a focus in graphic design for print and web. She lived in California for ten years before returning to this area in 2010.
Kristine’s career began in apparel retail store management for seven years with her store’s annual sales revenue averaging in excess of $2.5 Million. In addition to managing her own store, she trained newly hired store managers and she was often sent to underperforming locations to help them meet the company’s expectations.
Her college degree and business background inspired her to start a freelance graphic design business with client work ranging from corporate identity packages to website design. She ran her business for three years before obtaining a Project Manager/Graphic Designer position in the Training and Development department of Guess?, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA. Kristine wore many hats during her four years with them. She excelled in developing concepts, writing content and designing graphics for store training documents and workshops with a primary focus on the internal and external customer experience, brand integrity, product knowledge and selling skills for each of the four GUESS brands – Guess Jeans, G by Guess, Guess Accessories and Guess by Marciano. She successfully created materials catering to the specific demographic and customer of each brand to assist the store staff in reaching their sales goals. Kristine developed and managed training and operations guidelines for the company’s footwear sales program, where she showed an increase in footwear sales units per customer after one year of implementing the program.
She had the pleasure of working with owners, Paul and Maurice Marciano, on special projects, as well as receiving art direction on those projects from Leslie Oki-Yoshimura, Advertising Art Director with the company for over 25 years. Kristine’s role required her to maintain strong partnerships companywide to achieve goals and meet very strict deadlines. She utilized her graphic design skills for print and web; and conceptualized, produced, and edited videos for events and training presentations. Kristine worked with a small team responsible for managing the planning, administration and logistics for several annual events with attendance ranging from 100 to 600 people. She facilitated and co-facilitated leadership workshops, including LIFO Training and The Color Code; and new store opening training for audiences up to 300 people, as well as creating and presenting e-learning workshops via web conferencing.
Upon her return to Massachusetts, she followed her interest in leadership training, personal growth and the web by taking a position as web marketing coordinator for The Option Institute and Autism Treatment Center of America in Sheffield – a personal growth retreat and center for the treatment of Autism using The Son-Rise Program. She managed the online marketing for both organizations through strategic planning, execution, keyword testing and results analysis of targeted email marketing; social media campaigns for Facebook, YouTube and blogs; and online advertising campaigns through Facebook, Google AdWords and YouTube Promoted Videos. Additionally, she was the organization’s “go-to” for database queries and analysis to help identify areas of opportunity for financial improvement and marketing segmentation. Kristine continues to provide online marketing support to The Option Institute and Autism Treatment Center of America.
