SUMMARY:DOWNTOWN BOUND Mural Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:The City of Pittsfield\, alongside the Let It Shine! Committee\, will host a mural unveiling for artist Carly Holmes’ new mural DOWNTOWN BOUND. The emerging artist mural was created alongside mentor artist Jesse Tobin McCauley. It is located at the train platform of the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA)’s Intermodal Transportation Center. Carly is a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and the current artist-in-residence at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts. Carly is also part of the Let it Shine! Artist Exhibition at Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc.’s Framework Gallery in August.

DESCRIPTION:A new mural will be unveiled this Friday\, September 6 at 5 pm and the public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Pittsfield Let It Shine! Public Art Partnership recently selected local artist Shelsy Rodriguez to co-create a new mural to be located at the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority Intermodal Center located at 1 Columbus Avenue\, Pittsfield. Shelsy Rodriguez worked alongside mentor artist\, Jesse Tobin McCauley\, to develop and execute a transit-themed mural that will debut at 5 pm on Friday\, September 6 during First Fridays Artswalk/First Fridays at Five. \nShelsy Rodriguez (Stephx)\, a visual artist focused on painting and photography\, is a student of environmental sciences. She is from Colombia\, a place full of color\, tradition\, diversity\, and life. Her artistic work is based on the expression of the beauty she observes around her\, the beauty found in everyday life in those small details that make us feel that nature is part of us. \nShelsy uses painting to bring awareness\, so that when people see what she does\, they take away the idea of the importance of connecting with nature and being grateful to the past\, to their roots\, to unite with the present and to be aware of how we can improve the future of the environment.
