DESCRIPTION:The City of Pittsfield\, Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. (DPI)\, and the Downtown Pittsfield Cultural Association (DPCA) have announced details for the June 7 First Fridays at Five. The event will feature live music\, art\, dance\, family fun\, shopping\, food\, and entertainment throughout downtown Pittsfield. \nHeadlining the June 7th event is the Happy Together Band on the mobile City Stage from 6 to 8 pm. This group is comprised of 7 members and features keyboard\, two guitars\, bass\, drums\, and vocals galore including two female leads with pitch perfect harmonies that will transport you back to the 1960s. Members are Tony Gubelman\, Phil Grover\, Matt McKeever\, Tom Kitterman\, Bob Jones\, Michele Marano\, and Melissa Campbell. The City Stage will be located at the south end of the road closure on North Street near Park Square. City Stage entertainment will move inside in the case of inclement weather. \nFrom 5 to 6 pm\, Jacob’s Pillow takes over the City Stage. There will be an all-ages street dance performance by New York City’s KR3T’s Dance Company\, and at the end of the hour\, they will be joined by the Wandering Dance Society who will lead a dance circle for all who wish to participate. \nKR3Ts Dance Company strives to broaden the notion of what a dancer is\, and to promote the preservation of ethnic and cultural dances based in Spanish Harlem. The dance company provides a positive alternative to social and street pressures among children and young adults in lower and middle-income families in Latino communities of New York City\, mainly by providing dance classes and support programs in a non-discriminating atmosphere. \nPersip Park\, 175 North Street\, will feature The Pug and John Show from 5 to 8 pm as part of the free Downtown Pittsfield Summer Music Series; and Jim Horsford will be hosting a free live pottery demonstration at Palace Park where he will be inviting individuals to help him make pots on the potter’s wheel. Sotille Park\, at the corner of North and Eagle Street\, will feature Poppy DaBubbly (she/her) & JV (she/they) – two storytellers who will be providing a Pride-themed Drag Story Hour at 5:30\, 6:30 and 7:30 pm. \nThe Makers’ Market at First Fridays at Five will be on North Street between School Street and Fenn Street and will feature over two dozen local artisanal vendors who make their own\, handmade products such as crafts\, clothing and accessories\, candles\, art\, custom gift items\, self-care items\, and packaged foods and sweets. \nThe Family Fun Zone at First Fridays at Five will be on Dunham Mall and will feature free\, interactive activities from local non-profit organizations including face-painting\, arts & crafts\, games\, and more. Participating organizations include the Berkshire Athenaeum\, BeatNest\, CleanSlate Centers\, Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center\, Pittsfield Public Schools\, the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum\, and many others. Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. will host a Free Kids’ Paint & Sip at the top of Dunham Mall at 100 North Street\, and there will be Balloon Art on Dunham Mall. \nHot Plate Brewing Co. is teaming up with Berkshire Pride and Otto’s Kitchen & Comfort for a Beer Garden on School Street from 5 to 8 pm. School Street will be closed to traffic so you can take your beers outside\, grab some delicious bites from Otto’s\, and play some family-friendly games. Inside the taproom\, Berkshire Pride and Temescal Wellness will be hosting their second annual Pay to Sing Karaoke Fundraiser supporting Berkshire Pride. With a small donation for each song\, you’ll be able to belt out your favorites! \nFirst Fridays Artswalk will showcase dozens of artists at venues throughout downtown Pittsfield from 5 to 8 pm including Berkshire Art Center\, Dottie’s Coffee Lounge\, Hotel on North\, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts\, Marie’s North Street Eatery and Gallery\, and others. Follow a virtual walking tour on the free Downtown Pittsfield App and enjoy opening receptions with the artists. Visit the free Open Studios event at the Clock Tower from 5 to 8 pm. A free art shuttle to and from the Clock Tower Artist Studios will run from 5 to 7 pm – every 15 minutes from City Hall on Allen Street. The Art Shuttle is provided and operated by RSVP Volunteers. \nBerkshire Art Center\, 141 North Street\, will feature Free Drop-in Art Making from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. All ages are welcome to stop in to participate in a free art activity with the guidance and support of a faculty artist. \nThere will be many downtown restaurants serving food outside during the event or stick around for a bite after 8. And for me\, going all in on all three of these can create a beautiful life.” \n  \nKara has expanded her contemplation into a community-driven exploration\, encouraging viewers to reflect on where they want to focus their energy or make meaningful impact in their lives. She is interested in creating work that honors the beauty\, complexity\, inherent value\, and interconnected nature of all of our wild community members. Bunnell paints elements and scenes found in nature with a designer’s eye. These individuals took photos around the city of what recovery\, addiction\, and hope mean to them. The outcome of this work is impressive – over 40 images and quotes from individuals in our community\, expressing themselves in a way not often heard or seen. \n  \nThe reception with the artists on October 6th is part of Living in Recovery’s continued celebration of National Recovery Month. \n  \nDowntown Pittsfield\, Inc. has partnered with Katunemo: Art & Healing to bring “The Journey III”\, an exhibition featuring the work of fifteen artists from different countries in Latin America and Europe\, to their conference room at 33 Dunham Mall for one-night only\, Friday\, October 6\, from 5 to 8 pm. \n  \nThe featured artists are Sheila Franco\, David Melchor\, Derly Toloza\, Diana Rodriguez\, Juanita Latorre Silva\, Nicole Herasme\, Shelsy Rodriguez\, Thayna Dias\, Estiven Sosa\, Micaela Soasti\, Valentina Morales\, Marina Dominguez\, Angie Soasti\, Clara Guatta\, and Claire Saussol. \n  \nThe artists will share about their culture\, language\, traditions\, roots and different perspectives about life. This free live painting demonstration will be from 5 to 7 pm during the October 6 First Fridays Artswalk. \n  \nNicole Herasme was born in a small town in Santiago de los caballeros Dominican Republic\, and moved to the United States when she was 19 looking for better opportunities. She has recently found a great passion for photography and modeling\, dedicated to learning and improving in these branches. She enjoys expressing her emotions through art such as painting\, singing\, dancing and poetry. Since she was little\, she has felt called to help the people around her\, that is why one of her goals is to help spread freedom of expression through art and healing in the Berkshires. \n  \nFannie Pack will take the stage at Persip Park\, 175 North Street\, on Friday\, October 6\, from 5 to 8 pm\, as part of the First Fridays Artswalk. \n  \nFannie Pack is a band that will make you smile and compel you to dance. Born and raised in Troy\, NY – she lived in San Francisco and New York City in her 20’s\, then returned to The Capital Region to be closer to family. She currently works for www.radioradiox.com as a DJ and music journalist\, in addition to running her arts and entertainment business\, Kaos Industries. \n  \nNiki’s love of music is boundless! She is well known for her support of the Capital Region music scene. Her 518 Homegrown original music open mic at 344 2nd Street in Troy\, NY is a popular destination for songwriters on the first Sundays of each month. Her passion for promoting up and coming musicians in the 518 community is contagious. Niki is excited to see how our collective efforts are sparking a revival across our local music scenes! \n  \nBree Nicola is a 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Pittsfield. She just graduated with a BFA from Rider University as a Musical Theatre major and is currently working on her first EP. \n  \nCrys Moore is a 20-year-old indie/RNB artist from Pittsfield. Crys attended The College of Saint Rose briefly\, majoring in music industry. They will be continuing their studies in music production at BCC in the spring of 2024. \n  \nThe duo is very excited to get to perform on the streets they both grew up in and can’t wait to have a blast with the community. \n  \nCreative Sorceress Mollie Kellogg will demonstrate her messy and glitter/star-embedded mixed media underpainting pouring process during the September 1st First Fridays Artswalk at Sotille Park\, 200 North Street. This free live painting demonstration will be from 5 to 8 pm\, rain or shine. Kellogg’s Incognito Witch Project celebrates hidden magick and encompasses fine art\, film\, music\, and dance. \n  \nDowntown Pittsfield\, Inc. will host a Free Kids’ Paint & Sip and Scavenger Hunt on Friday\, September 1in the outdoor seating area next to Hot Harry’s and in front of the Marketplace Cafe (37 & 53 North Street). The Paint & Sip is from 5 to 7 pm\, and the Scavenger Hunt is from 5 to 8 pm. \n  \nThis free Back-to-School-themed Paint & Sip is best suited for ages 5 to 12\, although younger and older children are welcome. All materials\, instruction\, snacks\, and juice will be provided. Children are welcome to drop in anytime over the course of the event\, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. \n  \nThe Free Kids’ Scavenger Hunt for art will be held from 5 to 8 pm on September 1 during the First Fridays Artswalk. The September 1st Art Market will feature local artists\, artisans\, makers\, and food vendors\, and DJ Champ will be playing Top 40 Hits\, Hip Hop\, and Funk on the steps of City Hall! \n  \nNew Jersey born and raised in Pittsfield\, Massachusetts\, DJ Champ has been lighting up the dance floor since 2008 – doing everything from celebrity events to the smallest of venues. He is the founder of Young Champ Foundation which helps the community with back-to-school supplies and Christmas gifts as well as providing mentoring for our youth. Project is a Biodata sonification demonstration. Exhibits are plants connected to instrumentation that registers stomatal conductance and translates the signal into sound. The Project is presented by Linda Merry who has a Master of Arts in Biology from Miami University and who currently works at Berkshire Community College in the Life Sciences. Pencil illustrations by artist Natalie Zoe White will also be part of this exhibit. \n  \nReDefine Community Center\, 5 Melville Street\, will feature local artists\, Matthew Brinton and Nicole Fecteau\, for one night only during the September 1st First Fridays Artswalk. Kelly Potter\, Chesterwood Artist-in-Residence\, is a painter and a ceramic sculptor based in the Berkshires. Her visual art is based on preliminary studies of plant and animal activity within semi-natural locations in the Berkshires and the Pioneer Valley. Using oil painting and wall mounted ceramic relief sculpture\, she investigates a dynamic between the tamed and the untamed. \n  \nNoah Beauregard\, Red Lion Inn Artist-in-Residence\, is a painter working out of Berkshire County. Drawn to painting and design as a child\, Beauregard’s art focuses on abstracting common images through form and color. Beauregard pushes recognizable scenes into a bright bizarre world of saturated color and mythic design. The human form and unworldly plants are common motifs in his work. \n  \nSally Tiska Rice will present “Autumn Reverie” at Krol Headquarters\, 139 North Street\, August 31 through October 2. Sally invites you to indulge your senses in the vibrant colors and intricate brushstrokes of abstract canvases and framed translucent watercolor works. There will be an opening reception with the artist on Friday\, September 1\, 5 to 8 pm\, during the First Fridays Artswalk. \n  \nAs a versatile multi-media artist\, Sally Tiska Rice seamlessly employs a tapestry of techniques\, working in acrylic\, watercolors\, oil paints\, pastels\, and collages containing botanicals and mixed media elements. Her New Hat Series presents large-scale\, feminine forms that are mysterious\, bold\, dramatic\, captivating\, and complex. The many elegant\, amorphic\, and intricate shapes which flow throughout keep the eyes moving. \n  \nMarchetti Headquarters\, at 314 North Street\, will feature Strike a Memory: Imagery & Illustration in Berkshire Matchbooks\, an art exhibit of vintage Berkshire matchbooks dating from the 1950s-1980s for the month of September. \n  \nThe exhibit is curated by local artist Sara Paul of Shire Prints and features vintage matchbooks with famous landmarks in Lenox\, Pittsfield\, Great Barrington\, and other Berkshire towns. The matchbooks have been scanned at a high resolution and printed many times greater than their size so that viewers can get an up-close look at matchbook art in its full color\, detail\, and splendor. \n  \nVisitors can meet Sara at a reception on Friday\, September 1 from 5 to 7 pm at Marchetti Headquarters. \n  \nWitch Slapped\, 78 North Street\, will feature The Fantastical Artwork of Kit Curry on Friday\, September 1\, 5 to 8 pm. \n  \nKit Curry’s serenely apocalyptic artwork draws upon those primordial beliefs — animism\, witchcraft\, the occult —that modernity and so-called enlightenment have failed to entirely exorcise. Combining graphite\, charcoal\, and pastel for a wide tonal range\, Kit creates figurative and illustrative black and white chiaroscuro drawings in which witches and goblins dance amidst a crumbling world. Kit Curry’s artwork serves as a reminder of the mystery\, terror\, and delight of the strange world we inhabit. \n  \nHotel on North\, 297 North Street\, will feature When Soft Particles Soften: Abstract work by Justin Carafotes & Ryan Garvey through September 30. Soft Particles was first presented at His Daughter Paloma Gallery in August of 2022 curated by Justin Carafotes. Her concerts are warm\, affirming experiences she shares with the audience. Let her take you on a journey of musical exploration through the Delta and Piedmont regions of the South. Song selections may include Robert Johnson\, Blind Willie Johnson\, and Robin’s own original blues and fingerstyle ballads. \n  \nSinger-Songwriter Bernice Lewis has been a touring artist for almost four decades\, performing at innumerable festivals\, concert halls\, coffeehouses\, colleges\, and house concerts. She is The Artist Associate in Songwriting at Williams College (Williamstown\, MA) and founding faculty at Schreiner University’s Songkeeper Program (Kerrville\, TX). She has released seven CDs of her original music and is currently signed to Houston’s Berkalin Records. \n  \nOn Friday\, August 4 at FRAMEWORK\, 437 North Street\, Diane Firtell will be hosting a free live painting demonstration from 5 to 8 pm where she will illustrate how she transfers one of her photographs onto a canvas and transforms it into a realistic oil painting. \n  \nPittsfield artist Diane Firtell uses her camera\, now mostly her iPhone\, to capture the ever-changing beauty of the Berkshires. During this event\, she will be working on Ranunculus Bouquet\, a work in progress. \n  \nDowntown Pittsfield\, Inc. and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will host a Free Kids’ Paint & Sip on Friday\, August 4\, 5 to 7 pm\, in the auditorium at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church\, 67 East Street\, as part of the First Fridays Artswalk. \n  \nThis free animal-themed Paint & Sip is best suited for ages 5 to 12\, although younger and older children are welcome. The mission of R.O.P.E. is to celebrate and honor their entry into adulthood and provide them with skills and knowledge that they need to be successful\, independent\, and responsible young adults. R.O.P.E. is designed to help participants discover their inner voice and support all components of personal development. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. (DPI) will host a Downtown Pittsfield Cleanup on Friday\, May 19 from 12 to 3 pm. DPI’s Downtown Pittsfield Cleanups are good-natured competitions between local companies and individuals supporting an important part of DPI’s mission to keep downtown clean\, safe\, and friendly. This year over 200 volunteers representing 2 dozen local businesses and organizations will take to the streets for this annual event. \n  \nParticipating teams include Berkshire Bank\, Berkshire County Arc\, Berkshire Innovation Center\, Berkshire Medical Center\, Berkshire Museum\, Berkshire Pride\, Berkshire Theatre Group\, BFAIR\, Big Y\, Carr Hardware\, Committee of Public Counsel Services\, Committee to Elect John Krol\, Crane Currency\, CT Management Group\, Dulye Leadership Experience/CompuWorks\, Guardian\, Guidewire\, Hillcrest Educational Centers Highpoint Campus\, Mill Town\, MOLARI\, Pittsfield Beautiful\, Pittsfield High School\, Pittsfield Police Department\, Raytheon\, RE-FORMation Academy\, Richmond Appraisal Company\, Sirenssa\, Soldier On\, The Pittsfield Cooperative Bank\, and Witch Slapped. \n  \nThe Downtown Cleanup area includes North and South Street between East and West Housatonic Streets and Berkshire Medical Center and all side streets. The following awards will be presented by a panel of judges to 4 deserving Cleanup teams at an Awards Ceremony at Hot Plate Brewing Co after the Cleanup: Little Litter Busters\, Crushed Soda Can\, Golden Trash Bag\, and the Dream Team Cleaners. \n  \nTo companion the Downtown Pittsfield Cleanup\, Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. has proclaimed Friday\, May 19th as “Pittsfield Clean Up Day”. On May 19\, all Pittsfield residents are encouraged to get outside and clean up in their own neighborhoods. Suggested tasks include sweeping sidewalks\, picking up trash and debris\, and anything else that makes the neighborhood a more welcoming place. Residents are encouraged to celebrate spring and their community spirit by participating in Pittsfield Clean Up Day and posting pictures of their efforts with the hashtag #PittsfieldCleanUpDay. \n

DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. (DPI) will host Downtown Pittsfield Restaurant Week during and in conjunction with the City of Pittsfield’s 12th Annual 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival from February 16-26\, 2023. \n  \nDowntown Pittsfield Restaurant Week is sponsored by Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. and the Mill Town Foundation. \n  \nDowntown Pittsfield Restaurant Week will feature a passport to encourage people to dine in as many restaurants as possible over the 10 days. Patrons will receive a stamp on their passport for each unique place they dine\, with each stamp being an entry into a prize package drawing for restaurant gift cards. If a person visits 10 different places in the 10 days\, they will get 10 bonus entries\, and if they donate a non-perishable food item to benefit the South Community Food Pantry at South Congregational Church\, they will also receive a bonus stamp. Donations may be dropped off at Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc.\, 33 Dunham Mall\, from 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. \n  \nThe passport will be available at participating locations the week of February 16. The Holiday First Fridays Artswalk is being held in conjunction with Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc.’s Festive Frolic. \n  \nThe Wreath Art Auction makes its return to the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts\, 28 Renne Avenue\, on Friday\, December 2. Dozens of local artists and members of the Springside Greenhouse Group have donated their talent\, time\, and materials to create one-of-a-kind\, original holiday wreaths\, centerpieces\, kissing balls\, and more. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these original works of art will be donated to the South Congregational Church’s food pantry. The preview party begins at 5 pm and the live auction will take place at 6:30 pm. Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $10. A year in review.” for the month of December. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Pittsfield\, Inc. (DPI) will host the Downtown Festive Frolic on Friday and Saturday\, December 2 and 3. Activities will include the Park Square Tree Lighting\, Holiday First Fridays Artswalk\, Elf Invasion Pub Crawl\, Pictures with Santa\, Free Kids’ Paint & Sip\, “Splashmas with Santa”\, free arts & craft opportunities\, and much more! \n  \nPark Square Tree Lighting Ceremony – Friday\, December 2\, 6 pm \n  \nThe City of Pittsfield’s Park Square Tree Lighting Ceremony will return in-person on Friday\, December 2 starting at 6 pm. The Taconic High School Chorus will perform a variety of carols around 5:45 pm before the ceremony begins\, the Berkshire Hills Chorus will perform more carols once the tree has been lit\, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive following the tree lighting. Those planning to attend the ceremony are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Christian Center’s food pantry. \n  \nWreath Art Auction – Friday\, December 2\, 5 pm Preview; 6:30 pm Auction \n  \nThe Wreath Art Auction also makes its return to the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts\, 28 Renne Avenue\, on Friday\, December 2. Dozens of local artists and members of the Springside Greenhouse Group have donated their talent\, time\, and materials to create one-of-a-kind\, original holiday wreaths\, centerpieces\, kissing balls\, and more. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these original works of art will be donated to the South Congregational Church’s food pantry. The preview party begins at 5 pm and the live auction will take place after the Park Square Tree Lighting at 6:30 pm. Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $10.
