Garden Blossoms Florist is a hidden gem in downtown Pittsfield. Located across from the Common Park at 97 First Street, Garden Blossoms Florist is a full-service florist featuring unique floral designs for all occasions. Owner, Brenda Gold, recently celebrated her eleventh year in business in March, and is proud of the ties she has built with the community. Brenda and her single full-time staff person, Sean Colombari, have combined floral experience of almost 35 years; both having worked in this First Street floral location under previous ownership. As a two-person team, Brenda and Sean pride themselves on their attention to detail and customer service. Every arrangement is made to order, and every piece is different. Garden Blossoms offers bouquets for any occasion and special services for weddings and other events. Plus, you can order bouquets online and have them delivered in Pittsfield and the surrounding areas.
With Mother’s Day around the corner, Brenda suggests purchasing a bouquet for mom with a variety of different flowers. “Mix a lot of different flowers because the longevity of flowers varies. If you do a nice mix with a lot of variety and some of the flowers don’t last all that long, they can be easily popped out, and then you still can enjoy all the other flowers”.
Mother’s Day is the 2nd biggest holiday in flower sales for Garden Blossoms with the number one being what you would expect: Valentine’s Day. Brenda and Sean always recommend mixed arrangements, but they can also do the traditional dozen roses too. If you stop by the store for any arrangement, they will ask you about the preferences of the person who is receiving the arrangement. What are their favorite flowers? Their favorite colors? Do they prefer traditional or contemporary? With these answers in mind, Brenda and Sean will create a custom bouquet to suit any budget.
Garden Blossoms Florist also offers their floral artistry for any occasion: weddings, birthdays, new baby, get well, and congratulations to name a few! Greenery is very popular for weddings this summer, including long table runners made from all greens. Brenda offers special services the day of your wedding or special event so please inquire for more info. Garden Blossoms also prides itself on the custom pieces they make, including the touching pieces they create for funerals and memorials. The beautiful piece pictured below was created recently for a funeral service and features precious mementos among the flowers and greenery.
Garden Blossoms Florist is also a business partner with Tanglewood, and Brenda donates flowers which are arranged by volunteers on their campus throughout the summer.
Brenda is proud to still be a small business owner in our downtown after surviving the hit the economy took right after her new business opened in 2007. “Flowers are perishable and not a necessity, so we have been reinventing ourselves constantly and reaching out to the community”, says Brenda. She likes to keep her business small, with only 2 staff including herself, and she prides herself on the consistency of her work. Brenda and Sean love flowers and being creative, and they have a great eye for color. They are ready to serve all your floral needs!
Check out their website, gardenblossomsflorist.com, for online ordering, and for those who don’t live close to their loved ones in the Berkshires, they offer delivery to Pittsfield and the surrounding towns with a minimum $30 purchase. No excuse not to get mom something spectacular this Mother’s Day!
